Marlo

Up at a respectable hour this morning, had a good hot shower then breakfast. Evon made up a picnic lunch and we set off to explore the area. We set off down the road to Cape Conron (about 20 kms) There has not been much information on the area in Info Offices. On arrival at Cape Conron there were a number of information boards. We decided to walk the Cape Conron Nature Trail, a 2 hour return trip. The path was very well maintained and there were a number of places to stop and observe the scenery. At the half way point in our walk we came across Joiners Homestead. All that remains is the base of the chimney. The Joiners were fishermen catching mainly crayfish and anything else which came their way. On the return trip we passed Cowrie Bay then found the boardwalk, a set of stairs down to sea level. It was then a rock scramble to the next wooden structure. We repeated this action three times, much to Evon's displeasure, before getting back to the car. We then enjoyed our picnic lunch and cup of tea, before returning back to Marlo. On the way back we took several detours, firstly to Jungle Beach Caravan Park about 5 km off the main road, quite isolated.  Back to the main road, our next stop was Point Ricardo, follow by French's Narrows then Motts Beach, where we took another stroll down to the waters edge. Back in Marlo we purchased some provisions then back to the van for coffee, etc. Evon prepared tea and I cooked it on one of the parks BBQ. We then worked out our next few days before retiring for the night.
