Kiama to The Entrance

Big day today -we head for The Entrance about 200 km from here - through Sydney.

We were up by 8 am,  showered,  fed,  packed, on the road by 9.45 and headed north out of Kiama on the Princes Highway.  I had punched the destination address into Navman and Evon had her printout and maps. We wouldn't get lost.

About 45 minutes out of Kiama, near Mt Keira a truck had caught fire.  We were part of a big traffic jam for about 30 minutes or so. Once we were mobile again we endured some long ascents and descents on our way to Sydney.  I was very happy with the way the car and van performed.  The car is averaging 11.6 lt/100 km.

Sydney was a bit of a challenge - turn left, 2nd exit at roundabout,  keep left etc. Between the 3 of us we got there and headed north on the M1.

We found a nice rest area on the banks of the Hawkesbury River where we unwound and had lunch We only had 60 km to our destination and it was a great road. We turned off at Ourimbah to the Pacific Highway and headed for The Entrance.

Our little bit of excitement for the day. A sign saying "low bridge ahead", (Navman picked this route), found the bridge 3  metre clearance. Our travel height was 9ft.3in. We made it JUST . We must have negotiated 14 roundabouts heading into The Entrance,  finally turn left 500  metres and we had arrived. It was a big day,  we have 10 days here to explore the area.
