Today we were a lot more with it. We were up and on the road by 10 am, our destination Byron Bay.
Departed Brunswick Heads and onto the Pacific Highway to Byron Bay. On arrival looked for a parking spot, everyone was ticket machines. I don't like paying to park, finally found a 4 hour freebie with not too long a walk.
Our objective today was to book our air flights back to Geelong for Hayley's first birthday. Found the Flight Centre Office and it's all booked. Cairns to Melbourne July 14th and return to Cairns July 24th.
We then wandered around town, found a nice little café where we enjoyed lunch. Back to the car and drove up to the lighthouse to see if we could spot a whale or two. All carparks were full so returned to town , Evon did check that there were no close whales.
We decided to return to Brunswick Heads taking a detour to the township of Ocean Shores, just over the bridge from the caravan park. We were looking for a café overlooking the water to have a coffee - nothing found. Returned to the van then walked into "Brunns" to a little café and enjoyed coffee and cake overlooking the river.
Returned to the van and I decided to go for a bike ride. I had been told that it was possible to ride to Byron Bay along the beach at low tide. Once organized I was off to the breakwater and on to the beach. Quite enjoyable but had to work a little harder than usual, keeping an eye out for soft sand and the incoming tide. There were a number of other cyclists on the beach. I decided to ride about 7km before turning around and returning to the van before dark. Apparently it is about 10km to Byron Bay by beach.
Back to the van I hosed the bike down to remove any salt and sand and packed it up. It was then TTB.
Tomorrow we are off to haunt our daughter Nicole on the Gold Coast.
