Bowen to Bluewater Rest Area

It was cold at Bowen overnight,  9 degrees.  We didn't think it was too bad but the radio announcer in Townsville was saying it was the coldest night this year.  He followed it up by saying it was so cold the snowman refused to go outside and play and his teenage son had pulled his pants right up. He also said if you go out in your car turn the heater up to volcanic.

We were packed up and on the road by 9.30 am.  The boss was about 80% back to normal . It was going to be a short day to Home Hill Rest Area.  On arrival at 10.45 the rest area was packed so we decided to continue on to Ayr (about 10 minutes further on).

We found the rest area where we also found the info office.  Evon wanted to buy more time on her tablet so after a 10 minutes walk into town we found the telstra shop and conducted the appropriate transaction.

On the way back we stopped at the golden arches (McDonalds) for my lunch, Evon was not willing to try it. We then returned to the van where she had a vegemite sandwich.

We had heard on the radio that Townsville was hosting a heat of the V8 supercars this weekend.  With this in mind and being an overcast day we decided to continue driving past Townsville.  We have stopped at The Bluewater Rest Area along with 40 -50 other vans.

We took the rest of the afternoon easy,  a stroll around the area including the creek that the rest area is named after and watching the wallabies coming out to say hello.

Unpacked the Baby Q and cooked a rather tasty meal (Evon actually ate some steak tonight). Wrote my blog , a bit of reading,  then bed.

Tomorrow we hope to get to Ingham or Cardwell.
