We were soon ready to "hit the road", a quick chat to our neighbours and we were on our way by 9.30. Our destination was Griffith about 100km down the road. Overcast, warm day with a light north easterly wind (tail wind) I am smiling again.
Arrived in Griffith about 11.15, worked our way through town centre and found the caravan park the "boss " had chosen. Booked in and set up, a nice little park.
Into town and the Info centre where we picked up some more brochures to plan our next few days. We left the car in the info centre car park and walked to a couple of shopping centres. It made us feel we were close to home.
This was outside the info centre |
After wandering the centres we returned to the car and decided to drive up to the local lookout which was about 4km north of the town. The Hermit Cave was also located here. A young Italian migrant settled in the rocky escarpment of Scenic Hill to make his home from late 1920 until 1952. A very interesting place and we followed a 1.5km path through the area he had set up.
Back at the car we returned to the van, coffee and cake (a la caravan), then Happy Hour, tea, telly then bed.
