Kiama Day 2

We decided to play in the hills today.  Weather forecast for next few days is for rain so making the most of today.

On the road by 9.30,  we headed into town and the local supermarket to get a few things for lunch,  then we headed to the small town of Jamberoo, driving past the historic old pub, through the town and on to the turnoff for the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre (Budderoo National Park).

At the visitor information center we were shown a map of the area and the starting point for the walk. We ventured out on the Rainforest Loop Walk (1.6 km elevated boardwalk) then on to the paved Falls Walk to the spectacular views over the rainforest canopy and the gorge carved out by the Minnamurra Rivulet (2.6km return). Total of both walks was about 4.2 km including lots of steep paths which meant our return was faster than our ascent.

Once back at the visitors center we had our picnic lunch in a very pleasant area beside running water closely observed by a currawong.

Back on the road and we were heading for the town of Robertson where we had  coffee at Robertsons Pie Shop, a very popular venue. The film "Babe" was filmed in this area.

Then it was back to Kiama via Illawarra Highway down Macquarie Pass. Both the roads into Robertson and return were narrow, steep and sharp bends.  It was nearly as good as a ride in Luna Park although Evon didn't think so.

Back to the van for the night.
