Today we were on the go by 9.30 with our picnic lunch packed.
Our first stop was Nelson Head Inner Lighthouse where we experienced panoramic views of the entrance to Port Stephens, heritage displays, small maritime museum and tea rooms.
We then drove out Shoal Bay Road to Tomaree National Park where we embarked on a couple of walks. First was the Fort Tomaree Walk to the WW11 gun emplacements which were set up to protect the Newcastle coal and steel industry as well as the local Airforce base
From the site of the gun emplacement we had a bit of a rock scramble to meet the track to the Tomaree Head Summit. There were spectacular views from the summit. Both these paths had a natural incline. A height of 160 metres over 1.5 km. A slow trip up - not too bad coming down.
Back at the car we then drove to Fingal Bay where we had lunch overlooking the bay. We then decided to go back to Nelson Bay to the info office to book our ferry trip to Tea Gardens tomorrow then to the supermarket for supplies. It was then back to the van.
Tonight we went out to dinner with Justin & Jamie. Justin is Evon's nephew's son. We enjoyed Thai cuisine then went back to their place for coffee before returning to the van - a bit of telly then bed.
