The Entrance Day 7

Today we set off about 10am and headed off up the Pacific Highway to the Lake Macquarie area.  Our first port of call was the info office in Swansea.  We were looking for info for what's ahead of us. Job done, we had our bikes with us and it was suggested we do the Fernleigh track - ok.

After looking at the bike ride info we decided to park the car at Redhead which was 1/3 the way along the track.  As it turned out a good choice.

On the bikes and onto the bike way and it was a gentle incline all the way to Whitebridge - ask Evon. The path then leveled out with some descents to Adamstown.  On the way we had a set of traffic lights at a road crossing and a 180 metre restored tunnel. We returned the same way back to Redhead.  I decided I would like to ride from Redhead back to Belmont and return.  Evon waited in the car with a book.  (18.5 km was long enough for me).

Features of the track - Heritage railway relics, the Fernleigh tunnel,  coastal scenery and bushland environment,  paved and gently graded.  A really good experience. The track was about 15km one way.

Packed up and back in the car,  we found a lunch spot overlooking Belmont Bay. (I think Evon's photo shopped the picture)

After our 2.30 - 3.30 lunch we were back in the car and travelled slowly back to the van and cleaned up.

About 6.30 we walked down to the local pub where they offered 2 meals for the price of 1. Good meals then back to the van for a cuppa,  telly then bed.
