Calliope River Rest Area to Marlborough

We had a good night last night in the rest area,  serenaded by a band over in the historic village but wasn't too loud.

We were up by 8 am to be greeted by a thick fog, and on the road by 9.10 in sunshine. Our first stop was in Rockhampton at a McDonald's.  We were able to park the car nearby and use their facilities.

Returned to the van and were stopped by a man in the street asking us about our van. He had heard a lot of good things about them and wanted to know if we were happy owners or not.  He was later joined by his wife who also checked the van out.  I think they were reasonable impressed.

On our way about 45 minutes later. Good road and light traffic made for a comfortable trip.  Decided to stop at the Marlborough Caravan Park.  We were hoping to get to Mackay but after our long chat we wouldn't have been there until about 5pm.

Proved to be a little oasis,  10 room motel,  restaurant,  pool, tennis court and of course caravan sites at a reasonable price.  It is also one of the stops I made on the bike ride. Set ourselves up on a drive through site(don't have to un hitch the car).

At 6.30 the temperature was 23deg C.

Coffee break,  followed by Happy Hour, tea,  a stroll around the park,  then bed.
Tomorrow hopefully Mackay.
