This morning we were up and away by 10am and drove to Ballina. Once there we found the info office and picked up some more brochures. We then paid a visit to the local library which was just around the corner.
Back in the car we followed the road across the bridge over the North Creek then followed the coastline around to Lennox Head. We stopped at the Pat Mortan Lookout. A popular spot for surfing. We then ascended over 60 steps to the lookout and experienced views up and down the coast and out to sea. No whales though.
We had lunch overlooking Lake Ainsworth near the Surf Club.
We then headed east following a tourist drive to Alstonville, about 20km. Our destination was Summerland House Farm which is a business of House with no Steps and provides employment and training for people with a disability. We spent over an hour just wondering around looking at the various aspects of their business.
It was time to start heading back to Evans Head along the Wardell Road to the Pacific Highway then onto the Broadwater turnoff to Evans Head.
We then headed up to Razorback Lookout which overlooks the entrance to the Evans River, more spectacular views. We then drove about 1.5km to Chinamans Beach. There is an elevated boardwalk over the marsh to the beach.
We then returned to Evans Head and fuelled the car before returning to the van. We then enjoyed our Happy Hour, first time for 3 days, walked to the Bowling Club where we had tea - Chinese restaurant. Back to the van for a cuppa, telly and bed.
