After the normal morning formalities we did a load of washing. Our next door neighbour, among other things recommended a place for lunch. It was a hotel in Eimeo , one of the northern beaches.
We arrived at the hotel about 11.30 and found it difficult to find a seat to take full advantage of the views that confronted us. Job done, we bought a drink and looked at the menu. Placed our order after 12 as required then watched the influx of customers, the hotel is very popular.
After enjoying our meals and the views we departed and headed back to Mackay's town centre where we found the local info office who were very helpful. We then decided to walk down to the Pioneer River then follow the promenade to the Blue Lagoon. This facility provides a year round safe swimming area including a spectacular waterfall connecting the two main lagoon areas and a children's water playground.
We then walked back to the car then drove through the city and crossed on the Forgan Bridge over the Pioneer River. Our destination was Mackay Harbour and the breakwater. We were able to drive right out on the breakwater. We counted about 22 ships waiting to load coal at the nearby Hay Point terminal to the south of us.
We then returned to the van, had a home made coffee, did a bit of reading then declared Happy Hour, then it was time for T.T.B. (tea, telly then bed). We are here for one more day before heading to Airlie Beach.
