Kurrimine Beach to Townsville

Today we were up and organized and on the road by 9.45 am. A beautiful day, clear skies, light breeze and a reasonable good road.

We headed south on the Bruce Highway and stopped in Tully to make a phone call to Wallace Beckworth. I met Wallace at Belladonia Road House in 2010 when I was doing my bike ride.  He lives in Barwon Heads and neither of us have made the attempt to make contact until now.  Wallace was in Cardwell so we organized a meeting there.

Arrived in Cardwell and met up with Wallace and a couple of his friends.  Had an enjoyable hour over a coffee and I'm sure we will meet again once we are all back home.

Back on the road again and our destination was the Black River Stadium (caravan park) which is 20km north of Townsville.  We read about this park in one of my caravan magazines.  We have booked for 3 nights at this stage using the park as a base for sightseeing around Townsville and Magnetic Island.

Arrived at the park,  booked in and set up then it was into Townsville and the Info office.  Picked up some valuable info and will plan our next few days when we get back to the van.

The 'boss' heard there was a night market in town tonight starting at 5pm so after checking the map I decided we could leave the car where it was parked and walk.
It was an interesting market with a really good cross section of goodies including hot food.  We made a couple of purchases then headed back to the car along the waterfront.  A bike path/walking track, exercise stations and water features were abundant.

Back at the car I checked my phone in the dark (I have an app "Map my Walk" which reads your walk). It read 5.86km, no wonder I felt tired and Evon was not happy.

Back in the car and back to the van for the night.  I think the boss wants to go to Magnetic Island tomorrow.
