Charleville Day 4

Up about 8.15am and on our way to the Charleville Weather Station out near the airport.  Thought we had arrived early as there was no sign of life except for a car next to us  with a couple waiting like us. I got out of the car and found the door of the facility open.  Low and behold there was a gentleman inside who was very surprised to have someone visit him.

Andrew introduced himself and invited us to follow him as he took his various readings and observations.  Back to the office and entered the respective data into the computer.  He then demonstrated the weather balloon before going outside to watch the weather balloon launch automatically.  The balloon is then tracked by GPS and sends back various information such as temperatures,  humidity etc. at different altitudes. This was a very interesting free tour.

Back to the van for a late breakfast.  Evon had a shower then did a load of washing. After lunch I decided to go for a bike ride,  about 20km around various roads. I rode into the local showgrounds and felt like a 'fish out of water'. There were 60 -80 motorcyclists setting up camp there. I then rode out to the airport where I had a coffee while watching the activity.

I then rode back into town and back to the Warrego River Walk then back to the caravan.  Packed the bike up,  had a shower then a cuppa before setting up the BBQ for the roast we were going to have last night.

At Happy Hour we were joined by our South Australian friends again - very enjoyable.

Dinner was ready and I must admit it was well cooked. It was the perfect roast which went down very well.  It was then wash up, pack up,  then a bit of telly before bed. We are on the move tomorrow.
