Charleville to Wyandra

Up and on the road by 9.45 this morning heading for Wyandra about 100km south of Charleville. Stopped in Qantas Drive at the Dump Spot to service the van then back on the highway where we were stopped for a licence check and breathalizer. Guess what,  I passed both.

Mobile again and the road ahead was varying , wide in places,  then narrow,  again there was a lot of roadkill, roos, pigs and the odd head of cattle. Traffic was light,  about 6 cars for the whole trip.

Arrived in Wyandra and found the caravan park we had been told about.  A small park which supplied power only to the site.  There are a couple of toilets and a shower which you turn on the tap and let it run for 10 minutes or more until it warms up. It is artesian water straight out of the ground,  no cold water needed.

Also on offer here, putt putt golf, bocci, croquet and numerous other quirky things.  We are glad we stayed.

We joined the BYO Happy Hour around the camp fire with a number of other travellers and exchanged information about the road ahead and places to stay and see.

We had ordered tea at the cafĂ© and ate it at the free bush cinema showing the local area in flood.  We then reminisced watching black and white news reels from Australia in 1955 and 1956. We then all returned to our respective vans for a cuppa then telly and bed.

Tomorrow we head for Cunnamulla.
