A big day today. We headed to the mountains.
We were up and on the road by 9.30 am today. Out onto the Pacific Highway for about 5 km to our turn off to The World Heritage listed Dorrigo National Park along the Waterfall Way. Just out of Bellingen we had a really close shave. We were driving up a small incline when a car towing a caravan approached from the opposite direction. The car must have braked which forced the caravan to fishtail. It must have missed us by millimeters and I just missed a post on the passenger side. Very close.
We finally arrived at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre. A very good interpretative centre. We firstly walked out on the Skywalk. A structure set up so you can view the forest canopy.
We then embarked on the Wonga Walk which was a 6.6km circuit from the Rainforest Centre. It was a sealed track with quite a few informative boatds set along the track. Included in this walk were the Lyrebird Link, Birds Boardwalk and Satanbird Stroll. We saw the Crystal Shower Falls ,the spectacular Tristania Falls, colourfull fungi and 300 year old trees.
Arrived back at the Center and found a picnic table and had lunch. We then drove through the town of Dorrigo, turned right up the main street and just a little way beyond town we found the impressive Dangar Falls. There was a trail winding to the bottom of the falls but we had done enough uphill walking for the day.
We then returned back through Dorrigo to the Griffiths Lookout. It offered spectacular views of the escarpment, mountains and valleys all the way to the sea. No whales!
Back down the winding road to Bellingen and our next stop was the Old Butter Factory. It was a rabbit warren of interesting traders of art, glassware, Australian country gifts, antiques, leather goods and wooden products.
It was getting late so we decided to call it a day and head for home (van). It was a fine, sunny day.
A quick Happy Hour, tea, telly then bed. Tomorrow we head further north. Watch out Nicole we are coming.

Ha ha there are coupons for whale watching I was thinking of getting you for your travels up this way! What do you think as I know mum will love it!
