This morning we were up at 8am, showered, had breakfast and while I packed up the van Evon took a tour of Langenbaker House. This house has stood the test of time. It is actually left as it was when the last member of the family died in 1991.
Evon arrived back at the van and we were ready to roll. After saying goodbye to Diane and Tom we took a photo of the van passing under the caravan park entrance then we were on our way.
Good flat road all the way to Barcaldine with many dead roos. Parked in the main street and walked up to see the "Tree of Knowledge" - legend being the Australian Labor Party had its roots under this tree. Walked back down the other side of the street, past 6 pubs, not bad for a town with a population of 400. Topped the car up with fuel and headed out to Lloyd Jones Weir about 14km out of town. This is a free rest area which was recommended by various people.
Arrived at the weir, chose a nice spot overlooking the river. There is plenty of bird life and kangaroos on the other side of the river. There are about 15 other vans here and unfortunately the quietness of the area is interrupted by generators running. There are septic toilets here, very clean, rubbish bins and plenty of picnic tables.
We may stay here another day, see what sort of a night we have.
