Longreach to Ilfracombe

We were up by 8 am and out the gate by 9.30am.  We had a big day ahead of us. After reading an article in a "Caravan and Camping " magazine about a little caravan park with the offer of "pay for 2 nights get the 3rd night free" appealed to us.  Ilfracombe Caravan Park  was only 26km down the road.  More about this later.

Before leaving Longreach we decided to go to the Powerhouse Museum.  The museum is unique in that it houses an electrical industry collection second to none and a growing collection of social history relating to the Longreach area.  We spent about 1.5 hours checking out the exhibits.

Back to the car and the long (26km) trip to our next destination.  On arrival we were met by a very friendly receptionist and shown to our site.  It is a very friendly park.

At 5.30 there was a communal Happy Hour conducted by the park, just bring your own drinks. A number of local school children recited poetry to give them experience in front of people. Apparently there is a yearly competition held in Winton for primary school children in the district. Then it was a meet and greet where each couple introduced themselves, where they are from and what their travelling plans are. Our host (Cathy) then asked for any budding talents. A few people offered jokes and poetry.  Our host also had a repertoire of jokes as well.

Proceedings ceased about 7pm and we all adjourned back to our respective caravans for tea, telly then bed.
